City enlarges Rondevlei section of False Bay Nature Reserve

28 June 2023

This past weekend, Saturday 24 June 2023, the City’s Biodiversity Management branch unveiled the new area to form part of the False Bay Nature Reserve. The reserve boundary now includes a vacant field, located next to CAFDA and the Rooikrans Sportsfield in Grassy Park.

The City's Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Eddie Andrews, joined residents from the surrounding area on Saturday morning to witness the dropping of the old fence between the Rondevlei section of the nature reserve and the new area. The expansion of the City's False Bay Nature Reserve land estate will now create more habitat for wild life in the area, including that of the famous hippos in Rondevlei.
